Chiropractic and Children
My father grew up building houses with his grandfather and my brothers. One of the things that I learned from my father, is the importance of making sure the foundation is level before you ever start building a house.A house built on a crooked foundation will often have problems such as creaky windows, warped floors, plumbing or electrical issues, or cracks in the drywall. All of these issues are secondary to the crooked foundation. This same principle holds true with the human body. When a child is growing, it is incredibly important that their body has proper alignment. There is no place where the old adage of ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’ than in the developing child.I love seeing children in the office. One of the biggest reasons, is because children respond so well and so fast to specific, gentle, chiropractic adjustments. If you have ever watched a small child for any length of time, you’ll notice that they are constantly moving, falling, running into things, and basically being little human bouncy-balls.Although these bumps, bruises, scrapes, and falls seem like they are harmless; it is very easy for these injuries to cause a child’s spine to lose its proper alignment. Children grow at a rapid rate, and a misaligned foundation can cause a wide array of problems as the child grows up. Although children are checked for scoliosis in school, the schools simply don’t have the same training or technology available that we do in our office. At our office we do an examination to see if the child has any vertebral subluxations (misaligned vertebra), and then use gentle and specific techniques that correct the misalignment. This takes pressure of the spine and central nervous system, and allows the brain to send and receive the proper signals to the rest of your body through your spinal cord and nerves. We offer a complimentary consultation to anyone who would like to come in, see the office, and meet the doctor. This consultation is not an examination, and not a commitment in any way. It’s a chance for you to see what we do, and have any questions or concerns answered firsthand. We also do health talks in the office every other week. This is a free service to the community, but is incredibly valuable information. Please call the office for details!Dr. Sean
